Digital Detox

Mar’s Musing on Digital Detox

Welcome to this week's Mars Musings. As I find myself at Lake Annecy in France, I am compelled to discuss the idea of a "digital detox," a term that has become popular in our modern lives.

The notion of disconnecting from the digital realm and embracing time offline, surrounded by nature, family, and friends, has proven immensely valuable. I recall embarking on silent retreats, a break from technology for ten days to two weeks, a true heaven in a community with meditation, yoga, qi gong... The initial intensity gradually gave way to a profound presence, an unfiltered connection with life.

While my current responsibilities especially as a mother make lengthy retreats challenging or almost impossible, the practice of going offline except for essential matters has enriched my days. This deliberate disconnection rejuvenates me, reigniting human bonds, amplifying the thrill of nature, and deepening my sense of being alive. After an intense year of projects and structured living, this unstructured flow provides a well-needed reset. Time with my son, wandering freely, hiking, kayaking, sharing moments with dear friends – it's a revival that renews my spirit.

Perhaps a full digital detox isn't feasible for everyone. However, even a couple of days, a weekend, of putting down your phone can unveil the beauty of this practice. It transforms how we engage with life and connect with those truly close to us. We used to have a rule of no phones in bed or not touching it just before sleeping or directly after waking up - a step into this direction.

As synchronicities often arise in such moments, I invite you to embrace August with this intention. Today, the eighth of August, marks the Lion's Gate, a powerful portal for manifestation. Set an intention, feel the energy, as you take this digital detox.

Amidst this, I'll be conducting a Mother's blessing ceremony for a dear mother to be, tuning into the Lion's Gate energy and cherishing the blessings of nature. This period of rejuvenation becomes a tap into creativity, revitalising us for the upcoming months.

Wishing you a delightful August. Remember, you hold the key to a refreshing digital detox. I eagerly await reconnecting next week!

As always I love to hear from you, any tips or experiences on digital detoxing?

Happy Lion's gate manifestation.

Warmly,

Mar Michelle
