Tea
Mar’s Musing on Tea
Greetings from Val d'Isere, nestled among the mountains. After a rejuvenating week amidst nature's embrace, I'm here, attuned and eager to share a facet of my journey - the ritual of Tea.
Tea, a cherished practice from my Chinese heritage, has gracefully woven its way back into my life in recent years. Evolving from festive ceremonies and familial roots, this tradition circled the globe only to find me anew, this time through friends, beautiful souls from different walks of life bring it back to me.
Allow me to whisk you into this tranquil realm. Tea, much like nature, holds a space for reflection. It's about more than just sipping leaves; it's about sipping life itself, immersing in the connection to oneself, others, and the natural world around.
The act of making tea is akin to orchestrating a symphony of elements - water's dance with fire, leaves unfurling, earthy warmth merging... It's a meditation in motion, an ode to simplicity, and a conscious embrace of nature's embrace.
The presence of tea extends its globally. From chai in India, mate in Argentina to matcha in Japan, every culture dances with tea in its unique rhythm, yet the essence remains universal. It's a testament to our innate link with nature.
As I delve into this practice, I find serenity, stillness, and a deeper connection with my surroundings. Tea, a conduit for mindfulness, unfurls moments of quietude and meditation, a humble invitation to savor life's essence.
Sharing this ritual with friends is a treasure. In the embrace of shared tea, humility surfaces as we journey together through its teachings. This timeless practice invites us to be students of nature, ever-evolving.
I extend an invitation to you to embrace tea consciously. With each sip, reconnect with the elements, the nature within and around you. A simple cup of tea can be a gateway, a moment to touch the sacred in the ordinary.
Excitingly, Wu De, my teacher and the founder of Global Tea Hut, will visit Portugal in September. Anahata Temple, a haven crafted by Claire, will host this gathering. If your heart resonates, join us. Together, we'll immerse in tea's embrace, commune with nature, and share in a collective journey.
I yearn to hear your story, your rituals. What grounds you?
What whispers to your soul, and brings you back to your essence?
Please share your reflections and let's weave a tapestry of connection.
Embrace the elements, sip the present, and invite tea to guide you back to yourself.
Warmly,
Mar Michelle
