How to Avoid Financial Stress While Pursuing Your Life’s Purpose

How to Avoid Financial Stress While Pursuing Your Life’s Purpose

This week I’m tuning in from a beautiful secret spot in the Alentejo countryside, where I’ve been taking some time to drink tea and reflect. From this space of calm, there are two key insights I’d like to share with you.

The first has come up from several conversations recently with both men and women who are feeling the pressure to make money solely from their purpose work. I want to say, it’s okay – and sometimes even necessary – to do something else to support yourself. If you’re expecting all of your financial rewards to come from your passion, it can put a lot of pressure on that work, often dimming the flame of inspiration. When you're in a scarcity mindset, that energy can be felt by others, whether it’s potential clients or collaborators.

I spoke with a woman who shared that taking a part-time job to cover her basic needs actually allowed her to give more fully in her purpose work… And I think that's an important reminder – it’s okay to support yourself in other ways so that your purpose can thrive without the weight of financial survival hanging over it.

The second insight that struck me this week is the importance of showing up in your work from an expanded, full space, rather than from a place of need or contraction. When we approach our work with a mindset of lack, nothing seems to flow the right way. But when we allow ourselves to feel abundant and supported – whether that’s by being in nature, surrounding ourselves with people who uplift us, or simply doing things that make us feel good – everything seems to shift. The energy behind what we offer changes, and we touch others more deeply.

There’s a big difference between launching something with a scarcity mindset – deadlines and pressure – versus inviting people in when they’re ready. When we’re confident in our offerings, we naturally attract the right people. It’s about empowering others to invest in themselves from a place of excitement and readiness, rather than fear or lack.

I hope these two reflections resonate with you in some way. Whether it’s releasing pressure on your purpose work or shifting from scarcity to abundance, I believe these are key elements to creating and living in flow.

I’d love to hear your thoughts and insights on these ideas.

Let’s keep supporting and inspiring one another as we walk this path together.

With love,
Mar
